To celebrate their second anniversary, Gigantic Gallery is hosting a Carte De Visite show this Thursday, March 7th.
Used as a photographer’s calling cards in the mid 19th century, Carte De Visites were traditionally small photographs mounted on thicker paper, and became popular trading cards. These days, you’ll usually find Carte De Visites in junk shops in file cabinets labeled “Instant Relatives”.

For my own Carte De Visites, I revisited an old favorite smudgy medium, graphite on paper. I also paid a little homage to a couple of creep-tastic artists, Edward Gorey and Stephen Gammell.
These three new pieces will be up at the Gigantic’s opening this first Thursday, along with a ton of small works by these artists:
And while you’re galavanting about for first Thursday, stop by the Pony Club Gallery, where fellow member Keith Carter is hosting his solo show and doing some live-painting!

that second one is uber creepy *shudder* the third is my favourite…its kinda cool…in a weird way LOL
I liked all of them the second one was kind of awkward but it’s the artists Vision of a good painting and I respect that.
Why thank you! I like that the subversive nature of the second one creates a feeling of awkwardness, as that was the intention.
